Registration Tips |
Procedures for Successful Registration in Courses for the Associate in Science Degree:
- Review the catalog carefully to be sure you know what courses are required for the Associate in Science degree. (See http://www.tridenttech.edu/catalog/current/196.htm .) Please ask your advisor to clarify duplicate credit restrictions if you don't understand them (e.g., MAT 130 and MAT 140). A checklist for the A.S. degree can be obtained from your advisor as well.
- If necessary, make an appointment with your advisor to determine which courses you need to complete the degree, transfer to another college, and/or to prepare for a specific exam or test. Some courses are not offered every semester so plan accordingly.
- Decide on a reasonable number of courses and hours you want to take. Be sure to consider your work schedule and other obligations. Due to the nature of math and science courses, it is recommended that you not register for more than 17 semester hours.
- Consult the OnCourse or search for classes at https://ttcexpress.tridenttech.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor for available sections and times.
- Use a worksheet to plan your schedule before actually going on-line to register.
- Be sure to identify alternate choices in case some sections are closed.
- If you need to add or drop a course, do so as soon as possible to increase the likelihood courses will still be available.
- As you check to verify your schedule, if you are registering for a course with a lab, confirm that you are registered for BOTH the lecture and lab sections of the course.
- Prerequisite requirements must be completed before the on-line system will allow you to register, so be sure you have met or are currently completing the prerequisite requirements before you try to register.
- Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled. Be sure to register early so your enrollment is counted. Before your first class, again check your schedule to see if any of your classes have been cancelled or if room changes have been made.
- There are some courses that are not offered every semester so you are advised to plan ahead. In spring of 2003, MAT 240 will be offered at night and MAT 242 will be offered in the daytime.
- Take the appropriate math course(s) early in your time at Trident. To assure you are following the proper course sequence, please refer to the mathematics course flow chart.
- Be aware that 100 level lab science courses are offered by various departments for students with no prior or no recent experience. These are also good "refresher" courses that ensure you have adequate preparation to succeed in higher-level course work.
