Trident Technical College’s Nursing Division offers a curriculum with multiple entry and exit points with options for students to earn a certificate, diploma and associate degree. The nursing curriculum incorporates course requirements for all nursing programs into three program levels. The sequential program levels prepare students for progressive roles of nursing practice: the nursing assistant, the practical nurse, and the registered nurse. Students may successfully complete requirements for each program level and exit, or progress to the next level. Requirements for each program level of the curriculum are progressive and must be met before entering courses in the next program level.
All qualified students may enter the Nursing Assistant (NA) Certificate. Students who successfully complete the course requirements of the NA program may exit with the Health Sciences Certificate or meet the progression requirements for the Practical Nurse (PN) program and continue in the curriculum. Students who successfully complete the requirements for the PN program may exit with a Health Sciences Diploma or meet the progression requirements for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program and continue in the curriculum. Students who successfully complete the required courses of the ADN program exit with an Associate in Health Sciences Degree.
Qualified students who are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) may enter the PN program of the curriculum and follow the CNA-to-PN Option. Students successfully completing the CNA-to-PN Option may exit with a Health Sciences Diploma or meet the progression requirements for the ADN program and continue in the curriculum. Qualified students who are Licensed Practical Nurses may enter the ADN program of the curriculum and follow the LPN-to-ADN Option. The LPN students who successfully complete the ADN program level exit with an Associate in Health Sciences Degree.
The seamless curriculum combines classroom instruction, laboratory experience, and clinical practice to assure students obtain the most current knowledge and high-level skills available in the nursing profession.
Students interested in any of the nursing programs must attend an Open Advising Session conducted by the nursing faculty on campus OR complete the on-line Open Advising Session.
The schedule for Open Advising Sessions is available in the Admissions and Records office in the Student Center located on the Main campus (Building 410, Room 110), at 843.574.6370.
