The following databases and resources provide information on the various topics covered in SPA 202.

Online Databases

Biography Resource Center - Contains biographies on over 1000 individuals from various walks of life.  Biographies are taken from reputable reference sources.  Also includes full text magazine articles and selected websites on individuals. Examples of Hispanic figures included in this database are:  Oscar Romero, Jacobo Arbenz, Hernan Cortes, Juan and Evita Peron, among others. 

NetLibrary  (Online Electronic Books) - Numerous electronic books are available on all topics covered in SPA 202 through TTC’s Online library (netLibrary)Using keyword search, enter the topic or subject you are studying.  The resulting book titles are all fully available online.  Some of the titles found in NetLibrary include: 

Secret history: the CIA's classified account of its operations in Guatemala, 1952-1954
By Cullather, Nick, 1959- (search used keywords: Jacobo Arbenz)
Peronism and Argentina  By Brennan, James P., 1955-  (search used keywords:  Argentina history)

Searching by the subject "Mayas" resulted in 24 titles covering various aspects of the Mayan culture.

JSTOR
Contains articles from scholarly journals in various academic areas. Selecting academic categories: Economics, History, and Political Science, and by using search terms like: United Fruit Company and Guatemala, resulted in over 25 articles taken from journals such as The American Economic Review, and The American Journal of Political Scien

NOTE :   There are numerous websites on the topics covered in SPA 202. The ones listed above are just a sample.  For additional sites use a search engine like Google.com (Advanced Search) with specific keywords.  Remember, ANYONE one can create an internet site.  Always do some form of website evaluation before you decide it is a website to use and the information is reliable.
