Business Practices / Cultural Etiquette Resources
When studying business practices around the world there are many things that should be considered. For a quick sampling of some things one might look for, view the online presentation (powerpoint) of "Doing Business around the World".
When searching for resources, in print or online format, remember to use keywords like: business and culture, business etiquette, business practices, business, business taboos and / or the name of the particular culture or country you are researching. The following is just a small sample of the resources available on this topic.

Passport Series – Pocket Guides to Business, Customs, and Etiquette;
Individual pocket guides on various countries are available. Each guide includes areas like Dress & Appearance, Women in Business, Business Meetings, Time, etc. Use keywords Business etiquette and your country’s or culture’s name (i.e. Business Etiquette and China) to search for a particular guide.
Culture Shock – A Guide to Customs and Etiquette – Individual books on various cultures are available in this series of books. Each book has a chapter titled Doing Business in…..(name of country). Use keywords etiquette and your country’s or culture’s name ( i.e. etiquette and Philippines) to search for specific books.

Provides up-to-date information on the world’s cultures. Each country has a section on Greetings, Gestures, and Visiting in addition to other interesting things about the particular cultures.

Each culture / country entrée includes a Cultural Cautions listing of DO’s, DON’TS, CUSTOMS, OBSERVATIONS, etc.
Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life REF GN 333 .W67 2001 – This source is organized by ethnic groups.
Electronic Books (netLibrary ) ***
The International Business Etiquette series offers full chapters on individual countries within the specified area. General topics like weather, travel, etc are covered in addition to topics like Business Attire, Greetings & Introductions, Gift Giving Etiquette, etc.

More Resources
