Annotated Bibliography Tutorial

NetLibrary  (Online Electronic Books)

Electronic books (e-books) are available on various  topics covered in THE 101 through TTC’s Online Library (netLibrary).  Using keyword search, enter the topic or subject you are studying.  The resulting book titles are all fully available online.

  Online Databases

SIRS -Magazine and Newspapers, selected websites, research topic suggestions, etc. are found in this database on a variety of topics.  Articles on various types of theater, playwriting, actors & acting, architecture, etc.  Use general terms like theater to browse the database.  Use more specific keywords to narrow down subject.

Internet Websites

Internet Medieval Sourcebook - http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/sbook.html  - 

Playwriting 101 - http://www.playwriting101.com/  -  website created by respected playwright and screenwriter Jon Dorf.  Includes information on all areas of playwriting (i.e. Types of plays, story development, cast, character names).

WWW Virtual Library for Theatre and Drama - http://www.vl-theatre.com/  - Very extensive site of resources from all over the world on theatre and Drama. Includes numerous links.  One of tremendous interest is the Theatre image collection.  Hundred's of galleries with images from 1800's to present, play photos, advertising postcards, etc.  Also includes museums, libraries, etc. 

Theatre History on the Web - http://www.videoccasions-nw.com/history/jack.html - Award-winning site with tons of information on different periods of theatre in history.  Also includes many costumes links with photo galleries.  One section is devoted just to costume resources. 

More Resources

The Research link from the library’s web page provides resources such as an MLA and APA citation guide, web site evaluation guide, and statistical information.  You will also find specific course resource pages and subject guides.

A good source for writing help is The Owl at Purdue, Purdue University’s Writing Center.  This site walks you through the complete writing process.
