CRJ 210 - The Juvenile and the Law

The following resources are available in Trident Technical College’s Library System to assist in the course CRJ 210.

Remember when doing research for this course to think of different search terms when using any database.  For example, information on "juveniles" may also be found using the word "teenagers", or "teens". Information on juvenile gangs may be found using "juveniles and gangs" or just "gangs".  Information on "juveniles and schools" can be found using "school gangs" or "school violence", etc.

Online databases

To access the databases, click the online databases link from the library’s webpage. (Note:  A TTC ID card is needed for off campus access).  For help in using the databases see the tutorials and guides section of the library webpage found under the research help link.

Newspapers
The following links provide newspapers on the local, state, and national level.  If a particular crime, incident, etc happens in a certain geographic area, the newspaper servicing that area will probably have more coverage.  (i.e. The 2002 sniper case in the Washington DC area was covered nationally, however the DC area papers probably had even more in-depth, human interest stories).  Also for example, if something happens in Charleston (i.e. schools) you may want to see if Columbia has / had the same problem, or any other city or state.

                                                                       BOOKS

Titles on various topics can be found by using the library’s Online Catalog.  Different titles are found at the three campuses.  Any title found in the catalog can be sent to any of the three TTC libraries, whichever is most convenient.  These titles are books in hardcopy/print format.  Numerous titles are also available through TTC’s electronic library, netLibrary.  NetLibrary is listed under the online databases listing of the library. The entire book can then be read online.  Titles of interest in the area of Juveniles and the Law can be located using different subject/keywords in both the online catalog and netLibrary.
