Hardcopy/Print Format Journals

The library also subscribes to a number of journals in hardcopy/print format These titles are located in the library of at least one of the three campuses (Berkeley, Main, Palmer).  Journals are for library use only, however each library has photocopy machines available.

BOOKS

Titles can be found by using the library’s Online Catalog.  Different titles are found at the three campuses.  Any title found in the catalog can be sent to any of the three TTC libraries, whichever is most convenient.  These titles are books in hardcopy/print format.  Several titles on the list are also available through the TTC’s electronic library, netLibrary.  The entire book can then be read online.  Additional titles of interest in the area of education, teacher development, early childhood development, etc. can be located using different subject/keywords in both the online catalog and netLibrary.

THE INTERNET

When using the Internet keep in mind that ANYONE can put ANYTHING on the Internet.   When doing research using the Internet be a specific as possible, if not you may receive thousands of web sites to review.  Whatever search engine you use, most times you will find some type of Advanced Search option.

Using Advanced Searching features will allow searching by exact phrases or terms, perhaps by currency, domain, etc.  Be as specific as possible.

When selecting a web site to use as a source look carefully over it to determine if it is a good one to use.  Some things to look for:  the authority or who created the web site and their credentials, a date it was created or updated, and a point of contact for the maker of the web site (email, address, etc).  There are many domains, but some of the more common one are:  .edu – education, .org – organization, .com – commercial or company and .gov – government.  We suggest that you try to use sites with domains of .edu, .org, and  .gov.
