USER GUIDELINES

Eligible Users:

Only Trident Technical College faculty, staff and currently enrolled students with a valid student ID are eligible to use the laptops. Student records must be in good standing. Students who have outstanding library obligations are not eligible to use laptops.

Usage:

Laptops are only for use inside the library. Users may checkout the laptop for four hours. There are no renewals.

Service hours:

Laptops may be used from 8:00am until thirty minutes before closing. Laptops may not be reserved in advance of use.

Responsibility:

- Students will be responsible for any fees incurred while the laptop is in his/her possession.
- Student must sign a “Users Responsibility Agreement” form before using the laptop. By signing the form the student agrees to be responsible for damages, loss or theft.
- Student must have a valid Trident Technical College ID.

Fees:

A per hour, or any portion thereof, fee will be charged when the laptop is returned late. Laptop computer privileges maybe revoked and the late fees attached to your student laccount.

Academic Conduct:

Information which is personal and unrelated to current courses at Trident Technical College is PROHIBITED. See College handbook for complete policy.

LAPTOP COMPUTER FAQS

1.What is required to use a laptop computer?

        A valid student ID from Trident Technical College.

2. Who can use a laptop?

      Only Trident Technical College students are allowed to use the laptops

3. Can I use the laptop in a classroom?

       Laptops can be used in the library only

4. Am I allowed to reserve a laptop?

       Laptops cannot be reserved. They are used on a first come basis

5.How long am I allowed to use the laptop computer?

     Laptops can be used for 4 hours . There are  NO renewals.

6. When are laptops available for use?

        The laptop is available from 8:00am – until 30 minutes before the library closes.

7. What if I return the laptop after the time it’s due?

        There is a late fee of  $10.00 and hour or any portion thereof if the laptop is not  returned on time

8. What about damages, lost or stolen laptops?
     
        The user will be charged the cost of repairs if the laptop is damaged. If the laptop is lost or stolen the user will be     charged replacement cost. A Users Responsibility Agreement will be signed at the time of the loan.

9. Can I use the laptop everyday for 4 hours?

       The laptop may be used once a week for 4 hours.

USER RESPONSIBILTY AGREEMENT

I accept full responsibility for the laptop and it’s accessories while in my use. Accessories include: battery, AC power adaptor and network card.

The laptop is to be used for 4 hours. I agree to return the computer 30 minutes before closing.  After four hours, I will be assessed a late fee of $10.00 an hour or any portion thereof.

I am responsible for loss of and/or damages to the laptop.

 Loss of the computer will include replacement cost;

 Damages will include cost of repairs.

I fully understand that if the fees for the above are not paid, my student account will be in jeopardy. I also understand that if the above fees are not paid, my laptop computer privileges will be revoked.

NEVER LEAVE LAPTOP COMPUTER UNATTENDED

I will use the laptop computer only in connection with my attendance at Trident Technical College. Any other use is prohibited.

I have read and understand the Users Responsibility Agreement.
