The following online databases are available through the Trident Technical College Learning Resources Center. Additional databases are found on the LRC webpage under the research page. Databases can be accessed on and off campus.  Access off-campus requires a current (updated once each term) Library ID number (13 digit bar code number found on your Trident ID card).  

CINHAL Plus w/ Full Text - The world’s most comprehensive source of full text articles from more than 620 nursing and allied health journals.  CINAHL Plus with full-text provides access to evidence-based care sheets and peer-reviewed articles.  In this database, to get a copy of your search history, look immediately under the search boxes to find a link saying “search history/alerts.”  Click this link and a chart showing your search history will appear.  From this point you may revise your search, clear it, save it, or print it out.  Remember that you can print your entire search history at once, so you can wait until you’ve finished searching to print the history out.

Proquest Direct  - contains FULL-TEXT articles in various journals.  Under Database, select Nursing Journals.  Using the Advanced Search Method, try various keywords and subjects (as discussed above).  Also you can search in specific journals only (i.e. “Nurse Researcher” in publication name field or “systematic review” in publication type field).  To make a copy of your search history in this database, from the results page, scroll to the bottom of the page.  There you will find a chance to refine your search.  In the highlighted tools box, you will see a link for “recent searches” listing the number of searches you have performed.  Click this link and use the printer icon to print the resulting search history page.

Proquest Direct Video Tutorial         

Nursing Resource Center – A collection of core content from recognized reference, textbook, and journal publications in the nursing field.  Contains more than 20 full-text reference books and more than 200 animations from Blausen Medical’s Human Atlas, covering all major body systems.  Provides search results returned in tabs that correlate to the nursing process.  Also includes disease and drug overviews, sample care plans, and a Nursing Toolbox. A function in this database to list and print your search history is not readily available.  Should you want to use this resource, you should print out a copy of each new search results page and then highlight the search strategy noted at the top of the page.  Remember, if you do this, to turn in the pages in the order you performed the searches so that your instructor will get a true sense of your search strategy history.

The Research link from the library’s web page provides resources such as an APA citation guide, web site evaluation guide, and statistical information. 

A good source for writing help is also The Owl at Purdue, Purdue University’s Writing Center, found at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/545/01/.  This site walks you through the complete writing process.
