This course helps prepare medical coders for the AAPC CPC exam. The CPC exam is a moderate-level coding certificate that can be taken by properly prepared beginning coders and experienced coders alike. Coders with less than two years of work experience that pass the CPC are considered apprentices until they have gained work experience. This course presents material that is necessary to pass the CPC. This course explores the use of ICD-9 CM and CPT coding as it is used for reimbursement purposes in hospitals. Concentration is on hospital medical records; reimbursement methodologies used by Medicare for hospitals; inpatient DRG system; outpatient APC system; and the official coding guidelines. The course prepares you for the AHIMA mastery-level facility coding certification exam, the CCS.
