PURPOSE: The Office of Institutional Research must approve surveys administered by
Trident Technical College that involve individuals or organizations external to the College.
Individuals responsible for the survey should submit to the Office of Institutional Research a written plan which identifies:
- The purpose/objectives of the survey
- The use of the survey results
- A methodology for administering the survey
- A methodology for analyzing the data
- The population to be surveyed including a sample size, if necessary, and the methods used to select the sample design specifications for the survey
- To whom results will be reported
- The individuals assigned to accomplish the plan
- A timeline indicating completion dates required for each component of the plan
- The Office of Institutional Research will provide assistance in developing the plan, designing the survey instrument, and developing a cover letter to accompany the survey.
The cover letter must describe the nature and purpose of the survey, an appeal for timely response, and the name, and telephone number of someone the respondent can call for additional information.
The requestor must submit the final copy of the survey instrument and cover letter to the Marketing Department for approval before distribution of the survey.
The Office of Institutional Research will print all scannable survey instruments. The requestor will be responsible for printing the cover letter, preparing the survey for mailing, and all postage. The Office of Institutional Research will scan completed surveys and prepare a report of survey results. The Office of Institutional Research will forward a report of survey results to the requestor and to the Marketing Department.
