Transfer Admission Application Requirements
  1. If you are transferring credits from a college or university in a country other than the United States, you will need to submit your transcript to be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.  Have your transcript evaluated course by course by the evaluation service.  For evaluation services go to  http://www.wes.org/, http://www.jsilny.com/, or http://www.ece.org/.
  2. If transferring to Trident Technical College from another college or university in the United States, you must submit an official college transcript and the Transfer Student Status Verification form from the International Student Advisor at the institution you last attended attesting to your status related to INS requirements. 
  3. If transferring from another college or university in the United States, you must also submit a copy of your current I-20 and original current I-94 card.

HOUSING:
Trident Technical College does not have dormitories.  You are responsible for your living expenses.
TRANSPORTATION:
Public transportation consists of CARTA buses and taxicabs.  You may purchase a bus pass from the Student Activities Office located in building 410 room 224-C.
DEPENDENTS:
Please provide the following information listed below for your spouse and each minor child who may accompany you or join you at a later date.  In addition, you must provide documentation to show sufficient funds to support you and your family while in the United States.  Students on F-2 visas are NOT allowed to work.

EMPLOYMENT:
Once accepted to Trident, F-1 visa holders are eligible to work no more than 20 hours per week on campus.  You can contact Jennifer Pickney in the Career and Employment Services at 843-574-6119 for an appointment.  Obtaining permission to seek employment off campus due to unforeseen economic hardship is sometimes possible but requires the endorsement of Trident’s foreign student advisor and the written approval of INS.  This is available only after the student has satisfactorily completed two semesters of study.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • All F-1 students must attend an international orientation before they begin classes.  Students will be notified of when and where the orientation will take place.
  • All F-1 students must be registered for full-time classes (12 credit hours or more). Students may register for only one on-line or course in a bag class per semester.
  • All F-1 students must attend classes. If students do not attend class, the Designated School Official (DSO) is notified by the professor and the student is considered out-of-status with immigration.
  • Before you leave the United States, you must have your I-20 signed by the DSO in the International Office of Admissions.
