Selection Process

Applicants are admitted to this program on a first-applied, first-qualified basis. Applications are accepted year round in the Admissions Department. Applicants are considered to be qualified for admission to the next available class when they meet all TTC and program requirements. In order to take a “seat” in the class, applicants must have accomplished the following:

  • Taken the TTC placement tests, SAT, or ACT
  • Officially applied to the Division of Allied Health by filling out an Allied Health Application and selecting Medical Record Coder as their major
  • Completed all developmental courses as indicated by placement test scores. For information on actual placement test scores accepted by the program, contact a representative in Admissions or the Medical Record Program Coordinator.
  • Completed all prerequisite courses
  • Maintained a “C” average in all prerequisite courses
  • Once the above requirements have been met, students will receive a packet from the Admissions Office notifying him of this fact. Students must return the blue index card within this packet back to Admissions in a timely fashion to indicate that he is accepting a seat for in the incoming class.

Seats are limited to 20 students each year. Classes begin each Summer Term.
