The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) is a national system of credit by exam. TTC is an open testing center for DANTES DSST examinations. The exams are available at the Main campus and the Palmer campus.
DANTES DSST examinations are computer-based, multiple-choice format and 2 hours long. To be eligible to repeat an exam, a waiting period of six months is required.
TTC does not administer the Technical Writing or Public Speaking DSST exams.
Some exams have an optional essay section. Contact the institution that will be accepting the credit to determine if the essay section is required. Essay sections have to be ordered in advance and may take two weeks to be received.
Information about DANTES DSST examinations can be found online at www.getcollegecredit.com
Cost
A fee of $70 examination fee is charged by DANTES DSST for each exam taken. Effective November 1, 2008 the fee will increase to $80 per examination. Examination fees are paid by major card to DSST on the day of the test.
A $16 per test service fee, paid separately from the DANTES DSST examination fee, is payable to TTC on the day of testing. The service fee is non-refundable and is not transferable to another test date.
Scheduling An Appointment
Dantes DSST examinations are administered by appointment only Monday through Friday.
To schedule an appointment on the Palmer campus call (843) 722-5516.
