Three Trident Technical College students won first place in separate categories at the 2008 South Carolina Technical College Annual Welding Competition held at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, S.C.
William “Will” Hunt of Hollywood won first place in Category I—Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Tee Joints and Gas Metal Arc Welding Butt Joints. Justin Cannon of Moncks Corner won first place in Category II—Shielded Metal Arc Welding Tee Joints. Chris Lawrimore of Moncks Corner won first place in Category IV—Gas Tungsten Arc/Shielded Metal Arc Welding Pipe.
The competition is open to all South Carolina technical college students enrolled in credit welding programs, and instructors must verify that competitors have never worked professionally in the welding industry.
