Trident Technical College will hold its 44th graduation ceremony Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Tom Stubbins, vice president of Human Resources for Vought Aircraft Industries, will give the commencement address.
Stubbins holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies from Dallas Baptist University. He has been with Vought since 1980. Vought is one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of aerostructures. Headquartered in Dallas, the company designs and manufactures major airframe structures for aircraft manufacturers. In November 2003, Boeing named Vought as one of its structural partners for the new Dreamliner 787. In December 2004, Vought announced the selection of North Charleston as the location for its 787 Dreamliner manufacturing facility.
TTC Associate in Arts student Stephanie Legette of Charleston will give the student reflection during the ceremony. TTC student organization presidents chose Legette for the honor through an audition process.
TTC holds one graduation ceremony a year. This year, more than 1,300 students are eligible to receive associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. Approximately 500 students have chosen to participate in the ceremony. The event is open to the public.
