Dracula Forbidden Fruit, a play by Dr. Sharon Willis, features the beloved characters and storyline of Bram Stoker’s classic novel, but with a new perspective and twist. The play runs Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. in the Complex for Economic Development/College Center (Bldg. 920) on Trident Technical College’s Main Campus, 7000 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. A minimum donation of $15 is requested for tickets except for Sunday’s performance, which includes $8 student tickets.
Willis, an instructor in TTC’s Speech, Foreign Language and Theater department, sets her play in an asylum and includes romance and intrigue. “I longed to tell this story from Mina’s point of view,” Willis says. Proceeds from the play support the Charleston Clemente Course at Trident Technical College, a free college-level humanities course for impoverished, homeless and otherwise disadvantaged people in the Charleston area. TTC employees and students as well as Charleston Clemente Course participants and community members will be part of the production.
