Trident Technical College will host a Model United Nations for high school students Friday, Feb. 29 and Saturday, March 1 in the College Center (Bldg. 920) on TTCs Main Campus, 7000 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Approximately 80 students are participating in this years event.
The Model United Nations offers students the chance to become familiar with diplomacy, international relations and how the UN works. It also allows them to exercise and improve their public speaking skills. Teams of students will represent different countries on three committees: Political and Security, Legal, and Social and Humanitarian. Each committee strives to reach a resolution through formal debate, resolution writing and caucus.
Participating schools and the countries they will represent include:

· TEACH Home School North Korea, China
· Wando High School Syria, India, Germany
The opening session will be held 9-10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 29. Jerome R. Clemons, Jr. is the keynote speaker.
The awards and closing ceremonies will be held 12:30-1 p.m. Saturday, March 1. Awards will be presented for Distinguished Effort (1st), Outstanding Achievement (2nd) and Honorable Mention (3rd).
