TRIDENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Trident Technical College kicks off its Black History Month celebration Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Complex for Economic Development/College Center (Bldg. 920) on the Main Campus in North Charleston.  Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, president of Claflin University, will speak. This event is free and open to the public.

TTC will host several other Black History Month events. “Standing in the Shadows of Motown,” a film featuring the Funk Brothers, will be shown 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the Student Center (Bldg. 410), Room 212 on the Main Campus.  The College’s Palmer Campus in downtown Charleston will host a spotlight event 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.  The Berkeley Campus in Moncks Corner will host its spotlight event 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20. These events are free and open to the public.

The Third Annual Leadership Symposium for Two-Year College Students will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center (Bldg. 410), Rooms 212-214. Symposium participants will deliver seven-minute commemorative speeches on the theme “Carter G. Woodson and the Origins of Multiculturalism.” The public is invited to attend.

Middle school and high school step teams will compete in the Second Annual Step Show 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Complex for Economic Development/College Center (Bldg. 920) on the Main Campus. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.
