TTC NAMES DIRECTOR OF APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS

November 26, 2007...

Trident Technical College has named John Autrey director of apprenticeship programs. In this role, he is responsible for working with local industries to establish federally registered apprenticeship programs, which combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction. After completing a federally registered program, apprentices hold an industry-wide recognized credential, a U.S. Department of Labor journeyworker certificate, providing increased opportunities for job advancement. More than 1,000 occupations qualify as apprenticeable.

As former program coordinator for TTC’s Electrical and Automated Technologies program, a position he held for 11 years, Autrey has been heavily involved with electrical and electromechanical apprenticeship training for organizations and companies. A retired U.S. Navy officer, Autrey has extensive training and experience in the maintenance and operation of electrical, electromechanical, electronics and weapons delivery systems. He is also licensed as an electrical contractor and master electrician.

Autrey is a TTC graduate, having earned a certificate in industrial technology and an associate degree in occupational technology. He also earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Charleston Southern University.

Companies seeking information about the apprenticeship programs should contact Autrey at 843.574.6979 or john.autrey@tridenttech.edu.
